St. Mary’s Academy, Colorado’s oldest high school, commissioned Boulder Bookworks to conceive, research, photo edit, write, copy edit, design, and manufacture this hardcover book to coincide with the school’s 150th anniversary. Our story traces St. Mary’s Academy’s emergence—along with the lure of gold and population migration—as it was guided by the Sisters of Loretto to bring education to the frontier even before Colorado became a state. Our publishing team spent time with students, researched in local and state archives, and conducted interviews with key contributors to the school’s growth and success. The narrative is driven by engaging photo treatments and captivating stories of St. Mary’s people and their tenacity. The book also features creative historical timeline sidebars running throughout.
